Confidential HIV Testing and Counseling in Makati City

November 23, 2012, Makati City - In establishing a concrete effort for Public-Private Partnership (PPP) through HIV/AIDS awareness by facilitating Confidential HIV Counseling and Testing for free, The Love Yourself. Inc. together with Makati City Health Department, Department of Health-Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (DOH-RITM) along with MediCard Philippines, Inc. as venue sponsor, then Sugarleaf foods that nourish and Chicken Charlie as food sponsors have all teamed up to make this noble project possible and indeed a success.

A total of 184 clients came and attended group discussions, then 174 of them had themselves voluntarily tested, from which 22 or 12.5% had reactive results. 

More than just numbers, the event proved that this should indeed be held closer to key cities like in Makati where most participants have been working rigorously day and night. We are thankful to some offices who encouraged their employees to take the initiative and are observing DOLE's HIV/AIDS Program in the Workplace. All information are treated with confidentiality and with highest regards to the rights of our clients.

These were offered to our attendees and advocates which they instantly got curious of and eventually loved.

We are indeed grateful to everyone, especially to our continuously growing number of advocates who generously extended their time, they who took their office off, and even stayed until early morning of the next day. Since then, we have been receiving heartwarming messages online due to this event.

Most of all, we are ever thankful to those who came and showed the importance of empowering themselves by taking the test and trusting us for more than a year. The increase in number of participants had been significant enough to clearly define the social responsibility of our community. We are interpreting the numbers more of behavioral change by committing to a better lifestyle, a better community, called Lovers!
